Vacuum Sealed Liquid Nitrogen Hoses and Piping
With any application using Liquid Nitrogen (or any other cryogenic liquid) the transfer of the liquid from the storage point (bulk tank or dewar) to the point of use is almost as important as the application itself.A poor piping installtion is can often be unsafe and unsightly with leaking joints and ice formations. This in turn increases LN2 usage as losses in these areas are much greater, and finally the quality or the LN2 at the point of use is reduced as excess gas is generated in areas of poor insulation.
Below are some common questions on our liquid nitrogen piping and hoses. If you have a question we have not answered please Contact Us.
- What is StatiFlex, DynaFlex and VBSFlex?
- StatiFlex is fully vacuum insulated pre evacuated flexible liquid nitrogen and cryogenic piping. Typically used for bulk tank runs to the point of use, it can be used in place of any traditionally rigid installation, it requires no vacuum pump.
- DynaFlex is the non pre evacuated equivalent of StatiFlex and requires a vacuum pump.
- VBSFlex, is range of highly flexible pre evacuated vacuum insulated low loss liquid nitrogen and cryogenic transfer hoses. Typically used in connections from manifold systems to the machine requiring the feed.
- StatiFlex is fully vacuum insulated pre evacuated flexible liquid nitrogen and cryogenic piping. Typically used for bulk tank runs to the point of use, it can be used in place of any traditionally rigid installation, it requires no vacuum pump.
- Doesn't rigid have better losses and is therefore better?
This is a popular misconception. Some time ago it was not possible to manufacture flexible piping with losses even close to a traditional rigid piping installation. We are pleased to say that times and technology have moved on, so you can now have all the benefits of Statiflex with equivalent losses to a rigid installation. - What about other cryogenics like liquid Argon or Oxygen?
Whilst predominately used for LN2 applications our piping ranges are equally suited to liquid Argon and Oxygen, they are available in range of bore sizes and pressures to suit whatever your application may be. For Liquid Oxygen applications the piping goes through a rigourous decontamination procedure to remove any residual hydrocarbons. - What about the joints, are these insulated?
All our liquid nitrogen piping is supplied with vacuum insulated bayonet connections to ensure that the entire run is frost free, if your equipment has a vacuum insulated bayonet connection we can directly interface with this, however, if your connection is a non vacuum insualted, whilst we will be able to connect there will be an ice build up in this area.
